You Can Choose Who You Want to Be
Today is Halloween, one of the most unique days of the year! And not because of the excessive amounts of sugar we permit our children to eat.
Halloween stands out because it gives you the freedom to be anyone (or anything) for an entire day.
Always wanted to be a professional wrestler? Today, you can dress as one.
Have an affinity for Harry Potter? Today, you’re a wizard!
It’s an exciting day, devoid of judgement. Everyone expects you to be a bit different than normal.
But that isn’t the case for the rest of the year.
Most of the time, we feel pressured to act a certain way. Or to pursue a certain line of work. Or to spend our time doing certain things.
Unless you are intentional about resisting these pressures, you’ll end up on the path-of-least-resistance. You’ll stay in the same line of work, do the same activities, and see the same people.
The path of least resistance will shape you over time. But will you become the person you want to be?

An alternative to taking the path of least resistance is to live your life with intention.
Who you are is not a static construct. But we often get too wrapped up in our current life to realize this.
Just like on Halloween, you have the control to be the person you want to be.
It takes self-awareness, discipline, and time to create the life you want to live. There’s no instruction manual, so you’ll have to blaze your own trail.
But the alternative is to live your life according to somebody else’s idea of what’s best for you.
And that’s no way to live at all.
